Why Parents Choose Our IGCSE German Tutor

Most tutoring platforms accept anyone with a degree. We don’t.

Every IGCSE German tutor in our network is a currently employed teacher at an accredited international school, actively teaching Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel IGCSE German to real students every day. They hold a Master’s degree in German or a related field and a recognized teaching qualification, such as a B.Ed.

This is not a side business for them. This is their profession.

Unlike open marketplaces, we have our own teacher-selection and verification process. Every tutor is referred to us by existing teachers in our network – because great teachers know other great teachers.

Here is how we select every IGCSE German tutor.

    Our 4-Step Tutor Verification Process

    1
    CV & Employment Verification

We personally review every CV and cross-verify that the teacher is actively teaching IGCSE German at their respective international school.

    2
    Live Video Interview

We conduct a Zoom or Google Meet interview to assess teaching style, communication skills, and the ability to explain German grammar, vocabulary, and exam technique clearly.

    3
    Demo Class Assessment

Only after the interview is cleared do we assign demo classes with real students. We observe, evaluate, and only retain teachers who consistently meet our standards.

    4
    Qualification Verification

Every teacher in our network is currently employed teaching IGCSE German at an international school and holds a Master’s degree in German or a related discipline, plus a recognized teaching qualification such as a B.Ed.

These are our non-negotiable standards. No exceptions.

What the IGCSE German Exam Actually Requires

Your child’s tutor needs to know exactly what the exam demands. Here is what every IGCSE German student faces.

    🏛️

    Cambridge IGCSE German (0525 / 7159)

Cambridge IGCSE German is assessed through four papers, with each paper contributing 25% of the final grade. Under the 2025–2027 syllabus, the papers are not all worth the same number of raw marks. Paper 1 is 40 marks, Paper 2 is 45 marks, Paper 3 is 40 marks, and Paper 4 is 45 marks, with a total of 170 marks. From 2028, the revised syllabus makes each paper worth 40 marks. The 7159 syllabus (9–1 grading) is otherwise the same as 0525.

    Paper 1 Listening

Approximately 50 minutes, 40 marks. Short recordings on everyday needs, factual information, and familiar topics. Students identify main points, specific details, and opinions.

    Paper 2 Reading

1 hour, 45 marks. A range of short and longer texts, including notices, messages, emails, articles and other familiar text types. Students identify main points, specific information, opinions and attitudes, and understand information and meaning in a range of texts.

    Paper 3 Speaking

Approximately 10 minutes, plus 10 minutes of preparation time. The assessment includes a role play (approximately 2 minutes), topic conversation 1 (4 minutes), and topic conversation 2 (4 minutes). Students respond to questions and prompts, exchange information and opinions, and communicate on familiar topics.

    Paper 4 Writing

1 hour, 45 marks. It includes a form-filling task, a directed writing task, and an extended writing task in the required format.

Cambridge topic areas (five topic areas):

    • Everyday Activities – everyday activities such as home life, food and drink, health and fitness, travel and transport, and leisure activities.
    • Personal and Social Life – self, family, friends, daily routine, leisure and celebrations.
    • The World Around Us – the local area, environment, weather, shopping and services.
    • The World of Work – education, jobs, plans, communication and technology.
    • The International World – countries and customs, tourism, global issues, life abroad.
Grammar and structures assessed (Cambridge): The Cambridge syllabus includes the four cases (nominative, accusative, dative, genitive) and the article and adjective endings that follow from them; word order (verb second in a main clause, verb to the end in a subordinate clause, past participle or infinitive at the close); separable verbs; tenses (present, perfect, imperfect, future); and the Konjunktiv II.
    🎖️

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE German (4GN1)

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE German (4GN1) is assessed through three papers: Listening, Reading and Writing, and Speaking.

    Paper 1 Listening

30 minutes, plus 5 minutes of reading time. 40 marks, 25% of the total. Seven questions using recorded monologues and dialogues based on the specification’s topic areas. Each recording is played twice.

    Paper 2 Reading and Writing

1 hour 45 minutes, 80 marks, 50% of the total. Section A: Reading. Section B: Writing (two writing tasks and a grammar task). The paper assesses reading comprehension and writing.

    Paper 3 Speaking

8–10 minutes, 40 marks, 25% of the total. The assessment includes a picture-based discussion (Task A) and spontaneous conversations on two topics (Tasks B and C). Sub-topics A3 (Services), C3 (Role models), C5 (Childhood), D2 (Weather and climate) and E4 (Accidents, injuries, common ailments and health issues) are not assessed in the speaking test.

    Edexcel topic areas (five themes):

    • Home and Abroad – local area, travel and tourism, holidays, the wider world.
    • Education and Employment – school life, study, work and plans.
    • Personal Life and Relationships – family, home, daily routine, friends.
    • The World Around Us – environment, technology, the local and international area.
    • Social Activities, Fitness and Health – free time, food, sport, healthy living.
Grammar and structures assessed (Edexcel): Pearson Edexcel assesses the four cases and the endings they drive, gender and adjective agreement, word order (verb-second in main clauses, verb-final in subordinate ones), separable verbs, tenses (present, perfect, imperfect, future, conditional), and higher-end structures like the Konjunktiv.

    Start with Just 5 Hours

We don’t push large packages on day one. Start with 5 hours to test compatibility – teaching style, communication, and pacing.

Why Our IGCSE German Tutor Offers a 5-Hour Starter Package

This is one of the most important things to know about us.

Most tutoring companies ask you to commit to 10, 20, or even 30 hours upfront. We don’t believe in that.

We offer just 5 hours to begin with. Why?

Because we want you to see the tutor’s teaching style, communication, and pacing before making any larger commitment. No pressure. No lock-in.

Students Come to Us for Different Reasons
